Church Structure, Emergent Church and History

For my ongoing class on Revolution (from the George Barna book of the same name), I've been discussing how the structural shift Barna catalogues in his book is really nothing new, but, instead, a continuation of the shift away from top-down, hierarchical models of religion that began almost simultaneous with the syncretistic merger of the early Christian sect and the Roman Empire. The attached image is my attempt to grossly oversimplify the history of these shifts and transistions over the past two millenia into a single image. What do you think?
